The changes the author said he was going to make have lead to a dramatic reduction in the number of bets but so far they have not helped the bottom line. Early days yet though.

Done and dusted in two bets today.

I had an e-mail from a reader asking why I don’t just aim to get my target profit on the first bet, so aiming for £50 instead of two £25 bets. The reason I went for two bets is because when I ran a similar test about a year ago I aimed for a profit target in four bets, then cut it down to three, so I thought I would have a go at two. The idea is that you are splitting the liability over two bets so if one loses, it doesn’t cost as much, but obviously you are exposed to risk twice.

Thinking about it, I suppose it does make sense to try to get it all done on the first bet. I think over the last twenty days the first bet of the day has only lost once or twice, and of course you have the rest of the day to try to recover if the first one loses. Certainly the days where we had bigger losses were where the second bet lost.

So from tomorrow I will start a new trial aiming for £50 on the first bet, run that for 20 days and see how it compares.
Day 20

Daily Profit:+£50
Total Profit: £293
