Hello everybody,
I’m finally back after a couple of months off with computer problems. I’m going to retry this Format Racing Method system which we didn’t have much success with. I won’t bore you with another description of the system but anybody who would like to read it again can do if they look at the blog on the 6/10/07. This time I will just paper trade it instead of using a proper bank and will start with a bank of £2000. Today we will start with £100 per point to win and will adjust this point at the end of each day. I will be using this system for every race in the afternoon with the right criteria Mon-Fri. I’m just giving this system another test because it was a change off season when I tested before and this could of been why the system did not show it’s potential. Me and Graham agreed to give it another chance once the season was up and running.

The losses are abit larger than what I have put down with some bets being under to £2 that couldn’t off being bet on properly. After having a disgussion with Graham we have decided to stop the test for this sytem for the moment. The way we pick the winners for it is common sense and should work in the long term. With the seasons change over this month has possibly given out selections that aren’t right with giving this system another test when everything has calmed down again we should get a better picture about the system.
I’ll be back with this system after I’ve given another system a test. For the next 4 weeks. I’m not to sure what I’m going to test yet but it will be either a laying system or placing system. I’ll be back in a few days with 1 of them.
Hi there, this is Graham. I just want to clarify what we are doing with this system test. Having looked at this system myself I must admit that it does seem to be quite good. The published results would appear, in my eyes anyway, to be accurate and having had correspondence with the system designer I would like to give this one another shot instead of writing it off in one go as I think it merit’s it. I e-mailed the author about our losing streak and I include his reply below. He seems genuine enough to me so we’ll have another go.
“Hi Graham, thanks for the email.
I’m not sure exactly when you tested the system but having looked at it yourself you will see it is not going to show a profit every day but over the long term it has proven to me to be a very good way of making simple profits.
Last week by Wednesday the system had made over 15 points profit which was then dwindled down through a few losing days to a final profit of 7 points on the week, £700 to £100 stakes.
This week started poorly and was down 10 points by Wednesday, but has now made 8 of those back in the last two days. Given a good weekend, we should be in front by Sunday evening, although as you know it should not even be looked at in weekly lots, but overall terms. However, it is easier to show a weekly set of results as people can identify with it better that way.
The system gives the user the edge overall by backing certain horses from the first three in the market and in the long term does work for the user. There will be peaks and troughs over time but changing of the seasons and codes does not make any particular difference I have found.”

What can I say? At this rate there will be no bank to bet with by the end of the week. There was 4 races taken out at the start of the day. Tomorrow we’ll be using a stake of £4.16 and for the 2pts it will be £4.89.

As you can see nothing to write home about but at least we didn’t loose abig chunk of the betting bank again. The 2 point plan made it’s 2 point profit there’s a start for rebuilding the account. Over the months test hopefully we’ll be able to see which plan could make us a better profit. There was no races taken out at the start of the day. Tomorrow we’ll be using a stake of £5.86 and if we were using the 2 point plan then the stake would be £6.88.

An absolute terrible day and we’ve almost lost half the betting bank in 1 day. It will be interesting to see if the system can pull back from this disaster today. There was no races taken out from this mornings checks, every race was a possible bet. He does say that with this system you will take 3 steps forward and 2 steps back. Hopefully today was the 2 steps back, if this was 1 step back God knows what the betting bank will look like tomorrow. Tomorrow we will be going for a win off £6.26 per race that we bet on. Although we have had a bad day I still believe that this system should work. Till tomorrow goodbye for now.

A much better day today we would have ended up in a profit if we had used money. We would have roughly won about £13 if we used a betting bank of £200. Tomorrow I shall start betting for real with a £200 betting bank. There was only 2 races removed at the beginning of the day. There was a full days betting again with a possible bet on nearly every race. Another possible way is to win 2 points a day and stop. I shall also be putting the results of doing it that way in my Totals too. To see which way earns more money in a day.

The Format Racing Method
Hello Everybody,
My name is Alex Shaylor I haven’t been on here for the last couple of months but I’m back and ready to go.
This is a backing system that I’m going to test. With this system you will need to be able to sit in front of your computer while the racing is on. Most of the work is done just a couple of minutes before the race is off. The good thing about this system is it will keep you busy for the whole day as you will bet in alot of races. It does give you a few types of races not to go for but today that only cut out 4 races. There was a possible bet in the rest off the races on today. It only takes about 10-15 minutes in the morning to find those races and then the rest of the work is done within a couple of minutes before the race starts. What you do is find three horses and their odds from betfair a minute or 2 before the off. With the three horses you use the odds to calculate whether it is worth betting on the race or not, by using a calculation sheet. You are given a calculation sheet to work from. I papertraded today and would of bet on 12 races at least but Betfair crashed and I couldn’t get the odds for the last 8 races this afternoon. The way to use the system is with Betfair but looking at the results there was possibly another 4 or 5 bets. I’ll test the system Mon-Fri and weekends if I’m around. I’m going to papertrade it again tomorrow and hopefully start with a betting bank of £200 on Monday.
The staking plan is quite simple You divide your betting bank by 20 and this is the figure you will be aiming to win from each race. With a £200 betting bank, I’ll be starting at £10 a win. At the end of eachday, whatever is left in the betting bank shall be divide by 20 to make the next days winning stake.
With the results I shall write down the time, track, won/lost and Profit/loss when I start to use money. If the race won I’ll write the winner down at the end. I’m not a very fast writer and for me to write all the horses names down as there is 3 per race would take for ever.

If I had been betting with money I would off raffly lost about £50 to the betting bank but with the loss off another 4 or 5 races where there looked to be 3 or 4 possible winners to 1 lost race it wouldn’t have been so much.

Unbelievably the last day of testing and we get 3 winners. The bank ended up at £223.96.
Summary
With this system it’s very easy to use and it does seem to work in the long run. The author doesn’t make the rules absolutely clear and you would have to play around with it to see what works and what doesn’t. From my personal experience I found that Irish races you should not touch, it actually could be a better backing system for the Irish races. Quite a few lays would win but I haven’t check this properly to see if it would make a profit. I found it better to make your selections at the start of the day rather than just before the off. Where you are looking at the 2nd favourite, quite often that horse would drift right out before the off and another has taken it’s place. Which that horse could be the true 2nd favourite and is more likely to win than your chosen one. At the start of the test I was quite strict with the rule on finding that 2nd favourite and the gap between the 1st and 3rd favourite but I found you could go for days without selections. By loosening up on that rule you would always get at least 1 selection aday. The only annoying thing is you can’t do the evening races at the same time as you do the daytime selections because some races may not have enough liquidity in it at midday. You have to come back an hour or so before the off for the evening races to make your selections.
The staking plan I didn’t like with all this points and adjusting it with different odds. You would have to do all these calculations. A staking plan like the one used for Racing Unlocked is much simpler and much more effective. By using the Racing Unlocked staking plan the bank would be showing £368.70. You can see the difference with 2 different staking plans and what the out come could be.
My final word is YES this system passes the test and does work. It can be a little scary with a bad day but that is to be expected. With the right staking plan you can make a good profit with it.
