Perpertual-I Bot

Nothing much to report on the performance of this bot. I’ve still got it running 24/7 on my VPS and it’s currently showing a loss of £752.50 running in Test mode with a £10,000 virtual bank.

Perpetual I

I have an update on the Perpetual-I automated betting robot.

If you remember I got a trial copy on 26th November and put it to work on my virtual server. I decided this time to use the paper trading facility using a test betting bank of £10,000 and leaving the bot to stake the default amounts.

The start of the test hasn’t gone well at all. The first day gave a winning bet, but then the following three days that had a qualifying bet all managed to pick a losing bet and at lay prices in the region of 6.0 losing over £600 in a matter of days.

Then my bot stopped working.

I sent numerous e-mails to the vendors but for one reason or another they remained unanswered. It may have been my own e-mails playing up as I did start to have difficulties before moving host.

Anyway, I therefore wasn’t able to run the bot over the three weeks I went away for Christmas and in fact have only just today managed to get the thing working again after a few e-mails with the vendors this week.

So I checked it today to see how it got on and again it’s managed to pick a losing bet costing another £245 at odds of 5.9.

If this were a backing bot I would be well impressed.

Of course I have no way of knowing how it did over Christmas so I’ll just leave it to run and see what happens over time.

26/11/2010 +£47.50
27/11/2010 -£220
29/11/2010 -£245
04/12/2010 -£270
19/01/2011 -£245

Profit Total: -£932.50

The Betsender Bot

This has been a very quiet period and I have done very little betting, even paper trading, because I feel that the trainers can hardly have kept their horses in tip-top racing condition in these conditions and entering horses in poor class races on the all-weather as a means of keeping them in condition is skewing the form and predictive possibilities. However, impatience and the warmer weather has tempted me back and I have started to run a couple of those experimental systems I mentioned earlier with the aid of the bot. Using the ‘Find’ option in the software, I set it to find all second favourites between 1.50 and 3.0 in the place betting and in the second example, to find any horse between those figures. I chose the ‘back recovery’ staking plan and accepted the standard settings.

Today, there have been five race meetings so we had a pretty good caucus to work with. The software allows you, on this staking plan, to set a target for each starting bet, so I’d set this at 20p, it only being an experiment. Results at the moment are that the 2nd favs have scored £1.71p and the Any Horses have made £1.51. Not conclusive, after one day, but interesting. I’ll keep running these ideas to see where they take us.

Tomorrow, I am starting another trial for the Portfolio Powerhouse and will then be running Betsender in no less than six instances on my computer, some for real and some for simulation. From my experience so far, I don’t expect any issues from this, it hasn’t missed a trick yet.

I think that the main advantage of this bot – and I suppose, other similar bots – is that when you enter your bets in a bot and click the Start button, that’s it, no havering about the odds, what’s the opposition like, etc., it all goes on automatically with no decisions to be taken. I have certainly found my results improving greatly since I started using this and it must be a boon to the bettor unable to access the net during the day.

Racing Synergy

Please see below an interesting update and FAQ’s from the Racing Synergy team:

One of the easiest and most effective methods of using Racing Synergy is to simply back the value horses with the bookmakers as they are identified (we call this the “Maximum Return” option in the software).

Not surprisingly this is the method that we use ourselves as over the long term it is by far the most profitable approach to using Racing Synergy.

Between January and December 2010 we kept a record of all the horses that we personally bet and the results are shown below:

Number of horses bet: 4730
Number of winning bets: 802
Stake per bet: £50
Total staked: £236,500
Total returned: £277,704
Profit: £41,204
ROI: 17.4%

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q. Betting almost £240,000 on horses must surely require an enormous bank, right?

A. Wrong! In fact we started with a reasonably modest bank of just 50 points (£2,500). The real “secret” to this type of betting is turnover. In effect we are repeatedly betting the same money over and over again, snowballing profits along the way.

Q. I don’t feel comfortable using stakes as high as £50, is this approach going to be any use to me?

A. It is possible to start with whetever stakes you wish – just use 10p bets if that it what is required to keep you in your comfort zone! A professional approach would be to compound your winnings, gradually increasing the size of your bets as your bank grows (e.g. risk 2% of your bank on each bet).

Q. Does this method of betting involve arbing or trading?

A. No. The results were achieved by betting with the bookmakers only and no bets were placed on the Betting Exchanges. We are using the Betting Exchanges as a probability indicator only in order to punish the bookmakers when they get their odds wrong.

Q. Are there any practical issues with betting this way?

A. Bookmakers absolutely despise this type of profitable betting and will restrict/close accounts from time to time. By keeping stakes modest and spreading bets carefully the risks can be mitigated. Another powerful tactic is to get friends and family to open accounts for you in their name. You can always pay them a small percentage of your winnings as a “thank you”.

Q. How many bets could I expect to place each day?

A. This really comes down to 3 main factors: 1) The racing markets on the day, 2) The parameters that you set in the software, and 3) How much time you dedicate to betting. As a very rough guide based on our own experience and settings you could expect somewhere between 10 to 20 bets per day for a few hours “work”.

Q. If this approach is so profitable, why does Racing Synergy offer other methods of betting?

A. Simply because the Maximum Return option is not going to suit everyone. It can be a rollercoaster ride at times and many bettors could be easily put off when a losing run is hit. The risk free betting options that Racing Synergy provides are ideal for those users who are willing to sacrifice potential profits in return for a smoother ride.

Q. How much time do I have to set aside to bet this way?

A. The beauty of this approach is that you can operate it as long as the UK horse racing betting markets are open, allowing you to pick and choose your own hours. In our case, we simply set aside 2 or 3 hours around lunchtime each day. There is certainly nothing stopping someone using this on a part-time basis.

Q. What settings did you use in Racing Synergy to achieve these results?

A. We used the Maximum Return betting option with a Minimum Bet ROI of 1% and a Minimum Rating of 5. We then blindly bet each qualifier as it came up with the appropriate bookmaker. It really is that simple!

Betfair Pirate

Four and a half months of testing and the bot never managed to recover. My £500 dwindled to £74 and I decided to call it a day. I got the bot for free and gave it a fair crack of the whip but it goes without saying that nobody in their right mind would pay a monthly subscription for this bot unless it at least covered costs. Stay well away from this one.

The Betsender Bot

I’ve  had the pleasing task of trying & reporting on The Betsender. This is not a tipping service or a betting system, it is one of the several betting bots available. It is not one of the simple, manual bots which make the betfair interface more user-friendly, it is one which can place your bets for you automatically. I have tried a number of these in the past and am always interested in any means of making betting simpler or easier to do. Such bots are of particular interest to those who find it difficult to operate a system or service during working hours, so this test should be especially interesting to them.

First impressions are good: simple, uncluttered working space and once you’ve had a quick run through the manual provided, simple to operate. It can place both back & lay bets on any Betfair market and they can be quickly selected. Once you have your list of selections for the day, a click on the Start Betting button will see them all placed in due order, according to the various limits you set.

Betsender is unusual in having 17 staking plans for backing and 18 for laying and you can modify any of them to suit. There is also, most usefully for me in testing for the blog, a simulation mode. It is possible to run more than one instance of the bot in case you have some system you want to keep separate, or perhaps try in Sim mode and uniquely, I think, you receive two licences for the software so that you can run it on another computer, perhaps at your office or laptop.

Weather restrictions have given us very few betting opportunities and those often NR or meeting abandoned. So, in order to do something with Betsender, I started taking random horses and playing with various settings of the staking plans. Naturally, I ran these experiments in the simulation mode, which is so useful for testing new ideas without losing anything. I found a certain fascination in setting up a plan (I tried Maria staking, modified in various settings) then watching as the bets were automatically calculated and entered.

Since I haven’t had a single hiccup in using this program, no bets have either been incorrect of missed, I have no hesitation in recommending it, especially for those who are in a 9-5 job. This makes it possible safely to run a system in your absence, under complete control. I am bursting to get back to full race cards so I can run some of the automatic all-day systems I have devised.

The Betsender Bot

This current spell of bad weather and the loss of so many race meetings to frost and snow has actually highlighted one of the rather unexpected benefits of having a bot to work for you. With so few bets from the systems I’m reviewing (it’s hard to find bets when there are so few races), it’s very easy to forget when one is due and miss it. Not now, however, as & when any bets arrive I simply enter them into Betsender and forget them without feeling guilty, knowing that if they come in range – or if indeed, they become non-runners – the bot will record them and have the results ready for when I choose to look. Reviewing systems/services was never so easy, Graham should get us all one of these!

Since there are so few races for my own systems, I haven’t been able to do the testing on the various staking plans this week as I’d planned, I want a much fuller set of cards for them and also for the Find function, which needs a decent list of races to work its magic on. Better luck this week, I hope.

Don’t forget the free trial, this is a good time to put something like this through its paces.

Perpetual i

I’m going to be testing the Perpetual i “Free Thinking Automated Punter” for the next month or so. This is yet another automated betting bot brought to us from the same stable as champion racing lays, champion football lays etc but obviously using different criteria to come up with selections.

They are doing their usual marketeers ‘launch sequence’ which I’m sure we’re all getting weary of by now, so expect to get inundated with approving e-mails from the usual suspects over the next few weeks.

Cynicism aside, they are giving away a free lay system at the moment to entice you into giving them your e-mail address and the claimed results of the system are impressive (aren’t they always?). I’d say it’s at least worth a look.

Anyhow, onto the bot. As with the other bots, this loads up easily enough and can be run 24/7 with no further user input required. I’ve set mine to bet with a ‘virtual’ £5000 betting bank and will update you in due course as to it’s results.

You can get more information, and the free system, here:

Secret System Lays Bot

Time for an update on this bot which has been running 24 hours a day on my virtual server since I started using it. I’m running it with real money but only £2 stakes.

2/11 -£23.50
3/11  +£13.30
4/11 -£18.30
5/11 +£3.80
6/11 +£30.40
7/11 -£6.30
8/11 +£7.60
9/11 +£1.90
10/11 +£7.60
11/11 -£0.20
12/11 +£11.60
13/11 -£3.00
14/11 -£44
16/11 -£17.10
17/11 -£3.60
18/11 -£3.10
19/11 +£0.20
20/11 +£5.70
21/11 +£11.40
22/11 +£1.90
23/11 +£3.80
24/11 +£20.90
25/11 +£17.10

Profit: £30.20
Betfair commission:-£12.10

Total Profit: £18.10

As you can see it’s been up and down like an Assyrian empire but it’s currently making a profit. I suppose if we were betting at £20 stakes that would be £181 profit in less than a month. I wouldn’t want to bet at higher stakes than that though as the odds on some of these lays are pretty high. I’ll update this in a month.

The Betsender

I’ve been experimenting with The Betsender for several days now and I must say that it has improved my betting discipline considerably. I suffer from the same maladies as most other bettors in that I allow the odds on the other runners to influence my thinking instead of following whatever rules I am supposed to be operating under. I also tend to miss bets due to the difficulty of keeping track of them all. Betsender removes these difficulties, once you enter the day’s bets in the morning, adjust the settings to your liking and click the Start button, the bot takes over and places them all faultlessly. There is no emotion involved. The result, admittedly in only a few days, is that I haven’t had a losing day.

I have also managed to run several other trial systems for the blog in simulation on separate instances of the bot and even ran one on a different Betfair account. All of them performed without error and very helpfully gave me running totals of bank and daily profit for my records. In the next few days I intend to investigate some of the 35 staking plans included and also have a look at the Find function, something I haven’t seen before in one of these bots.

There is a 7 day free trial of the full program available. It’s an opportunity to see whether you could use it to improve your betting.
