Lay-Zy Dogs

Final Review

After over 2 weeks of testing the system I have found the system very frustrating. You do all the hard work sorting out form and trap stats only for the odds to go over the maximum lay odds of 9.0 for the system or there is not enough liquidity in the market to get a simple £2 lay bet matched.

I have tested over 50 races only for my bets to get matched just 3 times. I feel that due to such low liquidity on the greyhound markets and the volatility of the lay odds of dogs where a dog can go from 5.0 to 10.0 in seconds,  the system should be moved to the failed system category. Also I have checked the sales page for the system and you can no longer purchase the system anyway.

If it ever comes up for sale again, you can get it here, although we don’t recommend it:

Lay-Zy Dogs

This system requires you to lay greyhounds at certain tracks and traps. In the first week of testing I must say the liquidity in the greyhound markets are very low and mostly you struggle to get a simple £2 lay bet matched. Out of around 30 races only once have the odds been below 9.0 and then got matched for a £2 lay. If this trend continues into the second week I think that it will be going in the failed systems category due to the fact of the low liquidity and not being able to get the required lay odds of below 9.0 on most selections.

Earlier this morning, Darren the system administrator of Top Greyhound Tips contacted me to advise that given the disappointing results so far on both the BAGS and NON- BAGS racing selections – he has asked for me to temporarily suspend the review. He suggests that there is a problem with the selection methodology and is not comfortable with charging for the selection service whilst there are these problems. (Historically, he mentions that the worst losing streak in over 1,000 races was 11, but during the review we have exceeded that figure by some margin).

He further advised me that he has refunded subscription payments to all current subscribers and hopes to have the system returned to proftable levels in the very near future. For those interested in keeping tabs on progress as the refinements are made on day by day basis, Darren has set up a mailing list on the website that you can join free of charge.

With such an honest and reasonable request, I am happy to suspend this review until such a time that he is happy with the systems resumed/profitable operation – whereby I plan to review the service again.

At this time, I will give the service a NEUTRAL rating. I look forward to revisiting Top Greyhound Tips in the near future.

Current balance : £687.00
P/ L : -£313.00

I guess I needn’t add, this isn’t too a good start to the review with more than a 30% loss on the bank. But, this is only the first week and still plenty of time with this review to prove this system which will see many selections during the course of the working week, so it is definitely a tipping service that will keep your fingers busy on the keyboard during the week.

I plan to run this review for 8 weeks (unless I am forced to take alternative action at an earlier time…. ;-)

Top Greyhound Tips

Hello All

From today and for the next four weeks or so, I will be reviewing the subscription based email tipping service for Greyhound racing on the BAGS and NON-BAGS circuits.

This service is a service operated by a chap using a software based selection strategy. He runs the software every day to get the selections which are then run through another piece of filtering software to find qualifying greyhounds based upon statistical data and analysis. These selections are then sent out via email.

The BAGS service running from Mon-Fri offers daily emailed selections for BAGS races around the UK the majority of which will be available through Betfair – so you could pre-set the selections via a Bot if you wish to save being at your PC during racing hours… From July to November of last year the service showed a profit of 300 points! I’ll say that again 300 points….! This service costs £5 for a 7 day trial, £27 for the next month and then £67 per month thereafter.

The Non-Bags tipping service offers tips for Friday and Saturday nights only. From July to November of last year, the service also showed a very respectable profit of over 275 points, quite astonishing. A 7 day trial is just £5 then the cost is just £27 for the next month and then £67 for each month after that. However, I have been advised that the Non-Bags races are not hosted on exchange sites, and so for these races you will need to place ‘manual’ bets accordingly at your nominated bookies.

Refreshingly, the website doesn’t compliment the usual collection of ‘driftwood’ websites having :
- a menu bar for ease of navigation
- no overindulgent claims of bank boosting profits over night
- none of those annoying testimonials
Just a down to earth explanation of the authors background and what the service could do for you. There is also a page where you can view videos of how the selections are chosen via the software tools he uses.

I will be proofing the results using a virtual bank of £1,000 for both services, using the authors suggested staking plan of 2% of bank ‘fixed’ stakes for that week, on each race. At the end of the week, the 2% stake will be recalculated on the new balance for the following weeks bets.

I will post the results for this weekends races on Sunday evening.

Lets hope this service repeats its previous successes so that my bank wont have … wait for it… ‘gone to the dogs’! (Groan, groan) Sorry, just had to do it!

I have tried this service for three months, as the vendor requested. He recommends that you lay to a liability of £25 up to a maximum of 7/1 odds and I have done this throughout this period, choosing 2 or 3 or occasionally 4 bets per day from the selections sent. I have maintained the claimed strike rate of around 85% and have made a profit sufficient to pay three month’s subscriptions plus a small balance. On this basis, I have to say that this is Approved – but with some qualification.

You see, you are sent up to 12 selections each day, from which you choose, randomly, about a third of them as bets. My results from this process are as above but I cannot say that yours will be the same. You may do better, you may do worse, depending on your choices. Another point is that you have to attend very closely to the betting process because the money only comes in very rapidly in the last minute before the actual start, which is not by any means the scheduled start time. Unless you are quick on the draw, you can miss the odds.

As an example, I ran these bets on Betsender since 1st November, with a target bet time 10 seconds before the scheduled start. Out of 98 bets credited to the service in that period, I actually got only 51 of them matched at the 10 second point. This is because the odds follow the money and this hasn’t fully come in by 10 secs before the official start. As a matter of interest, I had set Betsender to bet at level stakes and out of those 51 bets, I achieved 22 pts of profit, so at a suitable point value, this would have created a profit as well. Since this was only for the two months since Nov 1st, it suggests that over the full three months, that points total might have been in the thirties.

Actually, daft as the selection process seems, when you consider that on any average day there are upwards of 500 dogs racing (some days up to 1000, even) and you are selecting only 3 or 4 of them to lose, it’s almost surprising that you ever pick a winner. Of course, each race has only 6 runners and one of them will be a winner, so the odds are not quite as good as they look. It’s an odd, you might say ideosyncratic service but whichever way you bet it, level stakes or the recommended staking, it does seem to work, so yes, it’s Approved. Final figures are:

Starting Bank £500.00
Final Bank £606.04
Strike Rate Overall 84.71%
Av. Odds 5.77
Percentage of bets chosen 28.10%

Greyhound Lays

While greyhound racing is not so affected by bad weather as the horse racing tracks, they do, nevertheless, suffer from occasional abandonments and this has affected the number of bets made this week. Nine or ten selections would be advised and I would choose three from them, then find that two of them had disappeared. On two other occasions there were only 6 & 7 advised so I took only one, or at most, two from them. Consequently, I only chose 12 bets this week.

As it happens, this has turned out well for the service, with a bit of a recovery, almost to former levels, but it does demonstrate how random these choices are. However, we don’t look gift horses in the mouth and the results are:

Start Bank £500.00
Current £602.48
Strike Rate 85.19 %
Av Odds 6.40.

Greyhound Lays

This current spell of bad weather has taken its toll on some of the greyhound meetings as well as the horses, a number having been abandoned this week. Consequently, only 9 bets survived the cull and there was just one winner chosen among them. This brought a bit of advance in the week’s results, though nothing sensational. We are still looking for that week when I pick no winners. So, a modest profit this week:

Start Bank £500.00
Current £586.39
Strike Rate 84.67%
Av. Odds 5.98.
