Tennis Trading League

1st October 2013 – Day 35

Firstly, today’s nocturnal trades

Carlos Berlocq vs Pablo Cuevas
Advice – Lay Berlocq
Berlocq won a very close first set on a tie-break. Looking through the details of the set, his serve was never troubled, unlike his opponent, where there were several games with break points. Cannot see anything but a losing trade here.

Ryan Harrison vs Horacio Zeballos
Advice – Back Harrison
Harrison was in front in the match just once in the first set, after one game. He lost the set 1:6, losing his serve three times in the process. He also lost his first service game in the second set, and at one point was 0:3 down in the second. Again, a losing trade the outcome.

Kevin Anderson vs Lukas Lacko
Advice – Back Anderson
Harrison was a short priced favourite here, and broke Lacko in the opening game, and the trade was looking at halve. If the target was not matched with the break, then I would believe the trade would have lost, as Lacko broke Anderson twice to win the first set 4:6, and was never behind after that.

Ivan Dodig vs Yuichi Sugita
Advice – Back Dodig
A much easier to read this match. Dodi broke Sugita in the fourth game, and was never behind. A winning trade here.

Kei Nishikori vs Jurgen Melzer
Advice – Back Nishikori
Nishikori lost his serve in the seventh game, and lost the set eventually on a tiebreak. He lost his serve in the second game of the second set. If the stop loss was not met on the loss of the first set, I am sure that the break in the second would have seen it deployed.

Gilles Simon vs Marcel Granollers-Pujol
Advice – Back Simon
Match cancelled, Simon withdrew.

Mikhail Youzhny vs Sam Querrey
Advice – Back Youzhny
Two consecutive breaks of serve, first by Youzhny, who then lost the first set on a tie break. He then went onto lose his service game in the second game of the second set, so if the stop loss had not already been deployed, then it would have been done here for another loss on the day.

Stanislas Wawrinka vs Andreas Seppi
Advice – Lay Wawrinka
Wawrinka lost the seventh game of the first set, and eventually the first set 4:6. A winning trade to be found here.

Fernando Verdasco vs Somdev Devvarman
Advice – Back Verdasco
Verdasco broke the Devvarman serve in the opening game, and although dropping his serve to go 5:5, went onto win the set in a tiebreak. So, if the early break didn’t produce a win, then at would surely have happened with the set going his way.

Carla Suarez-Navarro vs Davis
Advice – Back Suarez-Navarro
Suarez-Navarro was a heavy favourite here, the first set seeing no less than five service breaks, three for Davis. As Suarez-Navarro was not behind, the trade would surely have won during the set, if not when the set was won.

Yen-Shun Lu vs Nikolay Davydenko

Tennis Trading League

30th September 2013 – Day 34

As usual, we’ll start with the day’s early games..

Bernard Tomic vs Ze Zhang
Advice – Back Tomic
Whilst Tomic lost his second service game, and was 1:3 down, pulled level at 5:5. There was then a break of serve for each before heading into a tie break. Tomic was 5:2 up during the tie break, so I would have thought that the trade would have won at this point.

Alexandr Dolgopolov vs Daniel Brands
Advice – Back Dolgopolov
Dolgopolov won the first set 6:3, breaking the Brands serve twice, without being behind. No issues with the trade in my view.

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga vs Gael Monfils
Advice – Back Tsonga
Monfils lost his first service game in the second game of the match, losing the first set without ever being in front. A straight forward trade is what I would have expected here.

Bojana Jovanovski vs Sorana Cirstea
Advice – Lay Jovanovski
Cirstea lost her two opening service games, to go 0:3 down, and was never ahead in the match. The stop loss would have been deployed.

Ana Ivanoic vs Flavia Pennetta
Advice – Back Ivanovic
Ana lost her first two service games, and was 1:5 down at one point, before coming back to win the set on a tie break. With this performance, I would expect the stop loss to be hit.

Onto those trades that took place a little later in the day…

Tommy Robredo vs Fabio Fognini

Tennis Trading League

29th September 2013 – Day 33

Today’s nocturnal matches…

Ryan Harrison vs Lukas Lacko
Advice – Back Harrison
No detailed game information on this match from Flash Scores, but Harrison lost the first set by 2:6. I would think under those circumstances that the stop loss would have been deployed.

Kaia Kanepi vs Julia Goerges
Advice – Back Kanepi
Goerges lost her serve on the first game of the match, and was 3:1 down. The remainder of the set saw four more breaks of serve, with Kanepi winning the set 7:5. I would like to think the trade would have closed with the early lead that Kanepi had.

Sam Stosur vs Lucie Safarova
Advice – Back Stosur
Stosur was never a break up in this match, losing her own serve in the eleventh game, losing the set 5:7. Never in front after that, so a losing trade would have been the outcome.

Then the ones taking place at a better time for us in the UK:

Tennis Trading League

27th September 2013 – Day 31

As the end of the week approaches, just one selection that I was unable to follow live:

Gilles Simon vs Igor Sijsling
Advice – Back Simon
Simon dropped his serve in the second game of the match, and was 0:3 down. However he did break Sijsling twice, and went onto win the set 6:4. Although the price would have risen at 0:3, I would think that the stop loss would not have been used.

Jurgen Melzer vs Frederico Delbonis

Tennis Trading League

26th September 2013 – Day 30

Svetlana Kuznetsova vs Sorana Cirstea
Advice – Back Kuznetsova on a heavy stake (3 points)
This match started originally on Wednesday, but interrupted by rain. At that point Cirstea had a 4:1 lead in the first set, and the stop loss had already come into action before that.

Venus Williams vs Eugenie Bouchard
Advice – Lay Williams
A first set riddled with breaks of serve, no less than six in total. Venus was a break down at 1:3 in the first set, I am unsure as to whether the target would have been hit, so I am going to sit on the fence here.

Caroline Wozniacki vs Lucie Safarova
Advice – Lay Wozniacki
Wozniacki lost her first two service games to go 0:4 down. No issues with the target being hit in my opinion.

Jurgen Melzer vs Mischa Zverev
Advice – Back Melzer
Although Melzer dropped his serve in the fifth game, but immediately broke Zverev’s serve. After this, Melzer was never behind, so I would expect a profitable trade was to be had.

Gilles Simon vs Bernard Tomic
Advice – Back Simon
Simon broke Tomic’s serve in the first game of the match, and was never behind. So again profit for those that were able to follow this one in the early hours.

Mikhail Youzhny vs Denis Istomin

Tennis Trading League

25th September 2013 – Day 29

Yen-Hsun Lu vs Evgeny Donskoy
Advice – Back Lu
Lu lost the opening game of the match, but then immediately broke back, and was not behind in the match after that point. A winning trade after the first set, or just after, as Donskoy lost the opening game of the second set.

Caroline Wozniacki vs Magdalena Rybarikova
Advice – Back Wozniacki
Straight forward here, the score showing the gulf in class – 6:1, 6:1. No issues with this trade.

Sam Stosur vs Lucie Safarova
Advice – Lay Stosur
Stosur lost her serve to go 1:2 in the first set, and I expect the trade would have closed at that point. Even if it didn’t, then there were two more breaks of serve (one for each), with Safarova winning the first set.

Today’s monitored trades..

Tennis Trading League

24th September 2013 – Day 28

Svetlana Kuznetsova vs Sara Errani
Advice – Back Kuznetsova
There were five breaks of serve in the first set, but Kuznetsova was never behind. A winning trade being the outcome.

Sloane Stephens vs Eugenie Bouchard
Advice – Back Stephens
Stephens lost here serve twice in the first five games (and only two points won on her serve), to be 0:5 down, but went on to win the set. So, although there are some doubts here, I would think at 0:5, the stop loss would have been met.

Madison Keys vs Shuai Peng
Advice – Back Keys
Keys was never in trouble here, winning the first set without being behind. Trade would have been completed at the end of the first set if not before.

Sam Stosur vs Kimiko Date-Krumm
Advice – Lay Stosur
Stosur lost her serve in the third game of the match, only to break back immediately. After this, she was never behind, and again I believe the stop loss would have been deployed.

Alexandra Dulgheru vs Anabel Medina-Garrigues
Advice – Back Dulgheru
No information from Flash Scores to help with a scoring breakdown, but Dulgheru lost the match in straight sets, the first was 2:6, so the stop loss coming into play again here.

Vesna Dolonc vs Anna Schmiedlova
Advice – Back Dolonc
No breakdown here again, but don’t see the need for any. Dolonc lost not only in straight sets, but only won one game, and that was in the second set. Trade would have been lost.

Tennis Trading League

23rd September 2013 – Day 27

The world of tennis has almost fully decamped to the Far East now, so the number of matches fully reviewed will be in the minority.

Eugenie Bouchard vs Monica Puig
Advice – Lay Bouchard
Bouchard won first set 6:0, would have had to use stop loss very quickly.

Varvara Lepchenko vs Misaki Doi
Advice – Back Lepchenko
Although Lepchenko lost her serve in the fourth game, she did break Doi twice, and won the first set in a tie-break. From previous experience, I would suspect that the trade would have probably closed at that point. Good job too, Lepchenko was bageled in the second set, ad went on to lose the match!

Kristina Mladenovic vs Casey Dellacqua
Advice – Back Mladenovic
Mladenovic was a break down in the first set on two occasions, going onto lose it 5:7. As she lost the second set as well, the stop loss would have been enforced at some point.

Laura Robson vs Ayumi Morita
Advice – Back Robson
Laura was a break down twice during the first set, losing a tie break, and in due course, the match. Stop loss would have been used at some point.

Flavia Pennetta vs Daniella Hantuchova
Advice – Back Pennetta
Pennetta lost her serve in the second game, was 0:3 down, then won seven games in a row. Would think the stop loss would not have been reached in these circumstances.

Francesca Schiavone vs Aleksandra Wozniak
Advice – Back Schiavone
Wozniak lost her serve on the first three occasions, to go 0:5 down. Trade would have won by this point.

Kimiko Data-Krumm vs Anastasia Rodionova
Advice – Lay Date-Krumm
Rodionova was 0:3 down in the first set, which was eventually lost 2:6. The stop loss would have come into play at this point, even if not before.

Irina-Camelia Begu vs Saisai Zheng
Advice – Back Begu
Flash scores do not show a point by point breakdown here, but as Begu lost 4:6; 1:6, I would think that the trade lost.

Alexandra Dulgheru vs Lesia Tsurenko
Advice – Back Dulgheru
Flash scores do not show a point by point breakdown. She did lose the first set on a tie-break, but did go onto win the second and third sets 6:2; 6:2. Without the breakdown, difficult to say whether the stop loss would have been reached.

Petra Cetkovska vs Qiang Wang
Advice – Back Cetkovska
Flash scores do not show a point by point breakdown. Cetkovska won 6:4; 6:1, and on the face of things a profitable trade would seem to be the outcome.

The above three matched were from the women’s Challenger your from Ningbo in China, and from reports elsewhere, this is one of the first occasions that Betfair have carried one of these tournaments.

Today’s monitored trades…

Tennis Trading League

22nd September 2013 – Day 26

The trades for matches that took place during the night were as follows:

Agnieska Radwanska vs Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova
A lay of Radwanska was advised. Pavlyuchenkova lost her first service game, and Radwanska had a lead of 3:0 in the first set. Although Pavlyuchenkova went on to win the first set, this is a difficult one to read what would have happened odds wise, so I am going to sit on the fence.

Raquel Kops-Jones & Abigail Spears vs Yi-Fan Xu and Chin-Wei Chan
Patrick advised to lay Kops-Jones and Spears. Xu and Chan lost their serve to trail 2:3 in the first set. However, Kops-Jones and Spears lost theirs to level at 4 all, and to lost the set 5:7. I would hope that the stop loss would not have been hit, but again, difficult to be 100% confident.

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga vs Gilles Simon
