Last race of the day lost 9 (ish) points L

Chris’ website shows a loss in the 4 o’clock at Taunton where I do not. I have checked this several times. So my results for yesterday are not as bad as the “official” results.

Day 21 – 30 December:  Today -4.72 points. Total 4.13 points.

Overall Strike Rate is 58.33% with average odds of 2.90.
Overall return to £10 stakes is -£3.24 and to £25 stakes is -8.10.

Oops, when I checked why a positive points total resulted in a negative balance using real money, I removed the Betfair commission from the £25 calculation and forgot to put it back! I have amended this oversight above.

If I read the selections website correctly, there won’t be any selections posted for the next week. As I do not get the Racing Post (and the online version isn’t used for this), there won’t be any results recording/updates either.

Day 18 – 21 December:  Today 0.49 points. Total 0.53 points.

Overall Strike Rate is 56.84% with average odds of 2.90.
Overall return to £10 stakes is -£31.41 and to £25 stakes is -£78.52.

Here we have a little problem.  If I remove the 5% Betfair commission per race that returns a profit I do get £13.25 profit (£25 * 0.53). Therefore it is due to the Betfair commission that the return to £25 stakes currently shows a loss of £78.

Therefore I have to question the £12,900 profit stated on the sales page. 515 * £25 only equals £12,875 anyway, but there is no allowance for Betfair commission. 515 * £23.75 (to allow for Betfair commission) is £12,230, but as the above demonstrates, this is an overly simplistic and fundamentally flawed way of showing the potential profit from the system.

That said I won’t care if, at the trial’s end, the system shows a profit. But I felt a need to bring some reality to the headline profit figure.
