The Lay Analyst

The Lay Analyst is one of six services offered by the Pro Betting Club and is a stand alone service offered at £39.50 a month or £89.50 for a 3 month period. A quick recap on the service –The Lay Analyst works on both UK and Irish races and covers National Hunt, All weather and Turf Flat racing throughout the year.

Selections are available online daily from 12:30 and with the password provided a simple log in takes the user to the relevant page of the daily selections. In the case of this service all selections must pass through a couple of filters utilised in the minutes before the off time to qualify as a Lay Bet. The number of points per qualifying bet is also provided and these range from 2 points up to 6 points generally and a 200 point betting bank is recommended.

The service is only suitable to a user who can be in front of a computer when qualifying races are due. On some days there can be up to 30 selections covering the period from circa 14:00 up to 20:30 so some stamina is required but there again making money does require some effort. I had hoped that a bot could be employed but at this time there is no suitable bot that can deal with the jump from filter 1 to 2, although in practice to the user, in front of the computer at the time, this stage will present no problems.

This report covers the final month of the trial from 1st June 14 through to the 30th June 14.

I had 15 selections that passed through both filters and became qualifying bets. Of these qualifiers 14 of them won for me (i.e they lost the race) and the 1 loser meant that the strike rate on the system was some 93% .

Of note during June Cashmaster put the “techies” at BetEngine in touch with the system providers to commence a trial of making the system “bot friendly”. Initial feedback is that the system does appear to be working on the BetEngine set up. This step, if it does work out, would really enhance the system as it would remove the need to be at the computer through all of the selections, checking to see which of them will pass through the 2 filters.

As previously stated in my earlier reports the actual procedure for checking whether a selection has turned into a qualifying bet is in itself very easy to do. However checking some days 30 plus selections would eventually wear a user down and almost certainly “sods law” would come into play if you missed a day, that would turn out to be the day a handful of the selections became winning bets.

So to the bank :

Opening Bank 200 points -31st May 171.75 points Close 30th June =180.70 points (net of 5% B/F comms)

Adding the monthly fee of £30 a month leaves a closing bank of some 172 points, a loss over the trial period of 28 points.

However it should be borne in mind that a 60 point loss occurred when the qualifying bet in an amatuer race got home. Please see my report for last half of May. I believe that we shouldn’t really be trying to lay horses in amatuer races and if that was removed from our results then we would have ended up over the trial period some 32 points and be looking at a 16% return.

This system, providing it can be set up on a bot, can potentially produce good returns on the initial investment. As the minimum staking on Betfair is £2 then a betting bank of £400 would be the minimum required.

The other condition I would employ would be to avoid amatuer races. They do not feature that often and when laying horses with this system at relatively long prices I believe this is a sensible additional filter.

So I give the system a pass if those two points are met.Approved2

Premium Naps

Premium Naps is a backing service – one of six Win/Lay options offered by the Pro Betting Club and is a stand alone service offered at £39.50 a month or £89.50 for a 3 month period. A quick recap on the service –The Premium Naps provides short priced selections predominantly based on National Hunt Racing in both the UK and Ireland and operates throughout the year.

The service has been operating since Jan 13 without yet suffering a losing month and after almost 500 qualifying selections has produced a strike rate consistently over 60 %.

Selections are available on line daily from 12:30 and with the password provided a simple log in takes the user to the relevant page of the daily selections. In the case of this service all selections must pass through one filter utilised in the minutes before the off time to qualify as a Win Bet. The recommended staking plan starts at 2 points and there is a recovery staking plan to cover losing selections. A  200 point betting bank is recommended.

The service generally provides between 1 and 4 selections per day although there are days where no selections are offered .The system will work with a bot for those who cannot be at their computer at off time but for those who prefer to be in charge the filter is very easy to understand.

I have been monitoring the selections daily since 5th April 14.

This is the final report on the trial and covers the period from 16th June through to the end of June on 30th.

During this period I received 9 selections that qualifed as bets and from these 9, I had 5 winners. This is a strike rate of some 56% which slightly below the long term strike rate of 60% plus.

Once again the staking plan ensured that the bank did not suffer and managed to move ahead slightly. So the final bank position is as follows:

Opening Bank 16th June  =211.1. points Close 30th June =212.09 points (net of 5% B/F comms)

Final Thoughts

So after payment of the monthly fee (£30) we would have ended  up in round terms some £30 for the 3 month trial  period, always assuming we had put up a betting bank of £2000.This doesn’t sound a great return but it has been achieved during a period when the NH season finishes and the quieter summer jumping season season slowly winds up. I could also say that a 1.5% return on an investment for 3 months is better than many banks would pay in 12 months.

Overall this system does work and as long as it doesn’t slump into loss through the summer months then come the autumn it should pick up and provide a healthy return. Using the figures provided by Pro Punters the system from April 13 to April 14 showed a healthy gain of some 210 points.

The system really will require a betting bank of probably at least £2000 as the returns on odds on shots are relatively small, any less then the return through the summer will probably be negative. However  if you can afford to make that initial investment then the effort required is minimal and the 12 month return appears to be very good.

With the above proviso that the bank required needs to be circa £2000 to start up then I would recommend this system.Approved2

Horse Betting Analyst

There’s a reason this service is in my list of top three betting services. The profit is staggering!

May was another profitable month with a remarkable 152 points, and that made it twelve profitable months in a row, something that is practically unheard of in straight backing services.

In fact, in the twelve months it made a total of 941 points!

To put this into perspective, I would be more than happy with any service that makes 120 points in a year averaging 10 points a month. Horse Betting Analyst averaged 78 points!

Even betting just tenners that’s an average profit of £780 a month. And who says you can’t make a profit from horse racing?

But it was due for a correction and June saw the first losing month for a while with a loss of 101 points, which is disappointing but still a small portion of the previous 941 points won. And actually, even with the losing run in June, there’s still 382 points of profit been made so far in 2014, so not too shabby overall.

The interesting thing is that July has been an extremely profitable month five years running producing 592 points profit, which averages out at 118 points each July.

That’s £1,180 profit at £10 per point stakes.

If you want to make a healthy profit from backing horses then now is the best time to give it a go.

The Simple Lay System

I’m being forced to call a halt to this trial.

I have been getting the selections from the system author, who charges a minimal £2.49 a week to send them through, which saves 15 minutes a day working them out myself.

I asked him why there have been no selections for a while and this was his response:

“Apologies a few personal issues have meant I haven’t been able to send selections as well as run other services. For the time being I won’t be able to send selections for this service, entirely up to yourself if you want to run the remainder of the trial finding selections yourself or shelf the trial.”

So it would appear that he has no interest in continuing with the review which, considering the results to date, doesn’t bode well at all. The fact that I’ve missed a week’s worth of selections already and the authors lack of interest in his own product together with the poor results leads me to conclude this is a no hoper.

Winning Trends

This service has seen a bit of a turn in fortunes thankfully, with a spurt of winners recently taking the bank back in the right direction, although I am still in a loss position. I remain hopeful that this could well be a long term earner as it does appear to identify value selections and therefore should produce a profit over the long term. We only need a few of the higher priced ones to win for us to turn this around completely.

Here’s the stats:

Bets: 178
Successful: 37
Unsuccessful: 141
Strike Rate: 20.8
Avg Odds: 4.63
Profit: -£135.97

The Simple Lay System

Not had any bets on this all week. Still, that probably saved me losing any more money!

Bets: 44

Profit: -£89.06

It’s still going in the wrong direction.

Hi there,

Apologies for the lack of a post so I will bring out the ov-

4/6 – 26/6 = +7.92  (1/6 – 26/6 = +2.42). Revised bank at end of play 26/6 = £1673.80

Figures are a bit disappointing, we’ve only made +2.42 pts this month & behind on the monthly average figures so hopefully these will pick up in the last few days of June & into July.

Hope to bring next update to you a bit sooner, hopefully this time next week.

The Laying Game

Ok, I have to admit, so far I am very impressed with this bit of kit.

I’ve been using it for exactly one week and it seems to be really bringing home the bacon.

It takes about two minutes to set up each morning. I load it, click on the Scan button, and within 10 seconds it spits out the bets for the day. I save those to a spreadsheet, add a date column, and load it into The Bet Engine and start it up.

That really is it.

I’ve been betting to £10 liabilities, so on a losing bet I lose £10, and on a winning bet, I win a varied amount depending on what the odds are on the horse. I’ve been running this on both the Win market and the Place market on Betfair and here are the results after one week:

Win Market

Bets: 103
Successful: 88
Unsuccessful: 15
Strike Rate: 85.4
Avg Odds: 4.93
Profit: £132.53

Place Market

Bets: 46
Successful: 33
Unsuccessful: 13
Strike Rate: 71.7
Avg Odds: 2.62
Profit: £85.42

Total Profit: £217.95

That makes a combined profit of £217.95 to £10 bets in one week for two minutes work a day.

That’s good. That’s very good.

But there’s something else I completely forgot to mention in my opening post about this software…

This software costs £49.95 for A WHOLE YEARS access. That’s fifty quid for a year! I’ve made quadruple that in profit in the first week.

Well, that’s at the moment anyway. The price is going up on this software at midnight on 30th June so if you fancy getting a years access for a stupidly low price, go and get it now here:

Profits From The Turf

This is a laying service that has been running since September last year. It was proofed live on a free daily e-mail service from the middle of September until the end of January and attained an average strike rate of 90% and 230 points profit. At this point it started as a paid service.

This lays horses in the Win market on Betfair, however bets are determined by the price in the Place market.

So you log into the members area each morning to pick up the bets, but you only lay them if the PLACE price is 3.0 or less.

This is very easily set up in the Bet Engine, so bets can be simply entered in the morning and left to run.

I’d been watching this for a while and decided to start betting with my own money on Friday 4th April , betting £20 level stakes. The results initially were very pleasing, with a profit of £340 in the first week. However, it bombed after that, gave it all back and then proceeded to go further and further into the red.

I’ve called a halt to the trial on 23rd June, as the service provider mentioned he might shut down the service due to poor performance. Here are my final results:

Bets: 177
Successful: 146
Unsuccessful: 31
Strike Rate: 82.5%
Avg Odds: 7.1

Profit: -£486.73

I really disappointed how this has turned out as it had an excellent run prior to this. It may be that this service works best during the National Hunt so if it’s still going then, I’ll retrial it to see how it does.

For now, I have to put this down as FAILED.Failed
