Racing Success

Racing Success is a straightforward horse racing backing system that you can buy for the very modest one-off price of £29.

It’s been developed by Mark Boyle of Racing Winners and Racing Profits, both of which have already tested and approved at Cash Master.

So what do you get for your £29?

You get a 27 page pdf manual, e-mail support and a money back guarantee.

It’s a system for the win markets only and can be used at either the traditional bookmakers or Betfair. It involves betting on carefully selected handicap turf races in the UK and only when the minimum odds are met. The average winning odds are between 5/1 and 12/1 so there are longish losing runs but good odds on the winners should mean a decent long term profit.

I have been using Betfair to place my bets for ease of use and because, as ever, Bet Engine keeps a neat record of all my bets, however I suspect more profit could be gleaned from shopping around for the best bookie prices.

Since there are not a huge number of bets, I’ll run this review for a good few months until we get a half decent number of bets under the belt with which to make a judgement.

So far I have to say I’m pleased with progress. I’m only betting with tenners but this sort of system lends itself to larger stakes once you’re confident in it’s continuing to produce the results.

My results since 11th December:

Bets: 63
Successful: 12
Unsuccessful: 51
Strike Rate: 19
Avg Odds: 5.88

Profit: £48.10

I’ll update this every few weeks.

Horse Laying Professionals

I’m asked on a fairly regular basis what systems or services, out of the hundreds that we’ve reviewed over the years, do I personally use myself.

Well, actually it’s usually ‘what is the best system or service out there’ and that’s an impossible question to answer because everyone has different circumstances and a system or service that is excellent for one person may be completely useless to someone else.

My own circumstances dictate that I’m generally not available to bet live during the days, and I usually do not have a lot of time to spend on my daily betting activities, so my personal preferences are systems and services that I can spend just a few minutes a day placing my bets and then I’m done, leaving me free to get on with other things.

I use Bet Engine to place all my Betfair bets because it’s really quick and it keeps a really useful log of all the bets of each particular system or service I’m using.

So one of my favourite and certainly one of the most profitable services I use is Horse Laying Professionals. I’ve been betting live with this service since 22nd May 2013 and it really couldn’t be simpler. The e-mail with the day’s selections is there in the morning when I wake up and it’s just a matter of placing the bets, or setting a bot to place them and that’s it.

Here are my actual results betting £25 level stakes:

Bets: 665
Successful: 501
Unsuccessful: 164
Strike Rate: 75.3
Avg Odds: 3.96

Profit: £1,867.05

That’s a nice profit over nine months for a couple of minutes work a day!

This is definitely one of the most stable income producers in my betting portfolio and the growth on bank has been phenomenal.

If you haven’t tried Horse Laying Professionals yet then you’re missing out. The price is just £7 for the first month and then £37 a month after that but the price is going up to £47 a month very soon so if you wish to lock in the cheaper price, it’s time to act now.

Better Horse Racing Service

The first week of selections has been fairly quiet but as I said in the introductory post this is generally the norm.

02-Feb No selection
03-Feb No selection
04-Feb Lingfield 16:10 Rose Buck 1pt ew 10.03/1.79 1st = £93.29
05-Feb No selection
06-Feb No selection
07-Feb Wolverhampton 19:00 Oratorio’s Joy 3/4 pt ew 6.19/2.08 7th =  -£15.00
08-Feb Newbury 15:35 Alaivan 3/4 pt ew 11.01/4.46 6th = -£15.00
08-Feb Newbury 16:10 Sam Winner 1 1/2pt win 3.9  2nd = -£15.00
09-Feb No selection

Weekly result: +£48.29

Running Total: +£48.29

The National Hunt Season has now ended and I will no longer be monitoring this service. After 492 calendar days, the overall starting bank of 160 points (in total for all 3 subsystems) stands at 158.94 pts. So a loss of 1.06 pts to level stakes.

Using the recommended stakes, the overall starting bank of 385 points (in total for all 3 subsystems) stands at 365.19 pts. So a loss of 19.81 pts.

On individual subsystems:

1) The Favourite Backer  down 7.66 pts at level stakes (down 38.30 points at recommended  stakes)

2) The Two Year Old Maiden down 17.18 pts at level stakes  (down 17.18 points at  recommended stakes)

3) The National Hunt Winners up 23.78  pts at  level stakes (up 35.67 points at recommended stakes)

So having forked out £167 + VAT for one year of this system (plus additional free bets for all subsystems for the last five month period of the National Hunt Season), the punter would be out of pocket by at least this amount. Consequently, this system remains in the FAILED category.Failed

Better Horse Racing Service

Time to add another review to the list. This time I will be reviewing the Better Horse Racing Service. This is an advisory service where selections are emailed each morning. The selections can be straight win bets or each-way recommendations. Occasionally you will be advised to place multiple type bets as well.

The service is run by an ex-racehorse owner and jockey’s agent. This experience means that he has made many contacts in the industry over the years. These contacts are one of the main sources for each days selections. Being a regular attender at race meetings is also given as a reason for the success of the service.

The service is selective so the number of recommendations each day is low, sometimes no selections are recommended as patience is also one aspect of the service that members will need to practice.

The monthly charge for the service is normally £59.99 but for the first month you can get it for half-price at £29.99. To increase the value for members it is advised to use Best Odds Guaranteed bookmakers but the point is also made that this is not mandatory.

Given that the number of daily selections is small I will report results on a weekly basis. I will use the BSP to report results and place level stakes at £10 per point based on a starting bank of £1,000.

Mystery Horse Bot / Month#2

After an abyssmal month in December, I am pleased to report that the Mystery Horse Bot has had a serious change of fortune in January.

I have genuinely hoped things would turn around for this piece of software and this month has proven that December was simply one of those months
that all systems experience from time to time. (I understand that since July 2012, December was the second losing month overall).
Here follow Januarys’ up-trending results reported by the bot.

19 winning / 11 losing / 1 break even day(s)

Note : As a result of Decembers progress or rather lack of, the bank took a nosedive and I reported the figures in terms of points profit. The bot does not permanently record any of its transactions
other than displaying the selections it has made on the day and there is no accounting for Betfair commission on winning bets. This is troublesome, particularly for a review like this
as readers quite understandably want to know the bottom line, not a theoretical points balance.
It took me some time to do but I trawled through all qualifying races for the last couple of months and came up with the following figures which whilst a more accurate representation are still not exact
to Betfair protocol, (commissions are charged on winning bets only, so on  occasions where the bot places more than a single bet – the losing bets need to be taken into consideration before the commission
is applied. This isnt easy to do, as this would require working through each and every race against each and every selection..!)

As you can see, these commissions soon add up, were a more obvious proof to this fact needed…. see below.
The results are to £6 stakes, which is split equally on upto the maximum of three bot selections.

Total Points : -47  (month total reported by the bot) / Profit & loss : £-286

Total Points : +52  (month total reported by the bot) / Profit & loss : £242.70

(my January figures do not seem to remotely compare with the figures on the website which are showing vastly higher profits for this month….ie. £750 to £10 stakes… I know that not everyone will get the same prices
as this is dependent upon the time the bets are submitted to the exchange, but surely not such a large difference? …. in contrast, Decembers results are comparable to mine)

Current balance :  £1156.70  (start bank : £1200)

In summary, a cracking start to the New Year. Let’s hope that February proves to be a similar success with equivalent progress to carry the balance into positive territory.

Horse Betting Analyst

Another fantastic month with 105 points profit shown! That’s the 8th consecutive profitable month at an average of 70 points per month in that time.

In January we had 9 winners from 25 bets = 36% strike rate at an incredible ROI of 76%!

Final day of their New Year special offer today -

Ok, so its been a couple of weeks since the first set of results.  How have we got on? Well, not good to be honest.

Since the last update we’ve had 16 days but only 7 bets. That’s because either its been a no selection day, or, the BSP was too high. Of the 7 bets that we did place, 4 have lost!

So where do we stand, well, 14 bets in total, 8 have won, 6 have lost. Strike rate of 57% and at £10 stakes the bank is down -£63.20.

What about my random picks that I’m using as a comparison? Well, that hasn’t placed a single extra bet in the past 2 weeks. All the random picks have been above 4 at the off. In order to keep the comparison in line with the tips, if the odds are greater than 4, the bet is not placed. So, the random picks still remain at 4 bets, 3 won, 1 loss, 75% strike rate and bank £0.80

That’s all until next time.

Puntology 3.0

Michael Wilding is soon to be releasing Puntology 3.0 and today is giving away a neat bit of software that automatically rates any race.

Michael recorded a video a few years ago that shows how you can manually perform the process, and it takes about five minutes per race. But this ratings software does all the work for you. And it’s free!

You can download the software here:

Diamond Racing Lays

I’m going to be reviewing Diamond Racing Lays from Jason Matthews.  This is an email tipping service for laying horses and is managed by “Bets For Today”. The costs for the tips is £29 per month.

Once subscribed, you get one email per day, at anytime between 9am – 2pm, listing the bet for the day. The email contains just one tip.

So, first impressions are that it is a very minimal service. There are no documents to read, nothing to understand, not even a staking plan.  You simply get an email listing one tip, on which you lay the horse.  There is a caveat that, if the lay odds exceed a certain amount (3.99), then you don’t place the bet, otherwise, you place the bet as late as you can.

That’s it, very simple stuff.

Now I’ll be honest up front and say, I am a little sceptical of this. The reason is simply because, how difficult can it be to choose one horse, out of an entire days racing, that is going to lose? I mean, it should be pretty easy right?

Well, I don’t know what decision making process Jason Matthews is using to generate his tip, however, I would be anticipating a pretty high hit rate with this. And that got me thinking, if he is putting effort into this, and studying form and results to choose a horse that is most likely to lose, then we should get better results than just randomly choosing a horse, shouldn’t we?

Well, because of that thinking, along with the official tip, I am also going to record the results of a random pick.  That is, I have a random number generator and it will pick a horse every day, completely randomly and see how I get on.  To be fair, I will keep the same restriction that, if the odds are greater than 4, then I won’t place the bet.

So, I’ve been recording results since the 1st of January and this trial will run for around 3 months. I will be using the BSP to determine the results and using £10 stakes.

So far there have been 14 days, but with the official tips, we have only placed 7 bets. That is because there have been 5 days that had no tip, and 2 days where the odds were over 3.99 so we didn’t place the bet. Of the 7 bets we placed, 5 bets won and 2 lost.  So, 2 losers already, that isn’t the great start that I was hoping for. So, 7 bets, strike rate of 71% and at £10 stakes the bank is at +£8.40.

What about our random selections.  Well, I have only had had 4 bets. The reason is that the odds of the horses that are being picked randomly are quite high, most of the time above our limit of 3.99. That means most of our bets are not being placed.  Anyway, so far, we had 3 bets that won, and 1 that lost. So, 75% strike rate. At £10 stakes our bank is just in profit at £0.80.

Very early days at the moment.  I’ll be providing updates every week or perhaps fortnightly. Lets hope we do well…
