This week I decided to try and use the e-book’s rules on the selections sent for myself. This was mainly done to see if I understood enough to come up with the same bets as the authors. I came up with different stake values for 2 of the bets and a No Bet for the MLS game.
I emailed the authors to ask why that would be seeing as I followed the FACT based rules to the letter and was very thorough in my assessment of the opinion based rule.
I received a very polite and thorough reply stating that it appeared that I was using the book correctly but that for the email service the authors use the rules as a basis but also apply more weight to the own research and opinion.
They explained that they wrote the book to be as easy to understand as possible for the lay-person and whilst I had stated all the fact based figures correctly, they added a layer of opinion and common sense (my wording, not theirs) on top.
I’m happy with that explanation. I have in the past ended trials of services early when it became apparent that a service was telling you one thing in their book and an entirely different thing in their emails, but I’m happy that this is not the case here.
Just for interest purposes, my reading of the rules for the 3 games selected would have been 100pt Overs on Haka (+£90), No Bet on Real Salt Lake and 100pt Under on Vaasa (-£100). So a loss of £10.
