The Lay Whisperer

A lucky winning bet yesterday with our horse getting beaten by a neck. Could have been expensive!

Two in the same race again today:

4.05 – Wetherby – Bica (3.2) and Be My Manager (7.8)

Short and sweet.

The Lay Whisperer

Over The Creek saved the day yesterday by unseating it’s rider although I suspect it was in with a winning chance but for that mistake. It was certainly making all the right moves up to that point. As predicted Sonevafushi did win costing us the £8 already won so we didn’t win anything yesterday but at least we didn’t lose either.

Today we have one selection:

1.20 – Catterick – Sea Cove (7)

This one hasn’t raced for two and a half years but has still been tipped by Templegate to take it, oddly. I don’t like the price but it’s a qualifying selection.

I’m moving house today so can’t watch any racing and I’m off to a wedding tomorrow so if I don’t update the blog I’ll do it retrospectively at some point over the weekend.

The Lay Whisperer

You know, I think I prefer my slant on the selection procedure. Yes, there are fewer bets but it showed a profit and that is after all the whole point of the project!

Today is a very odd day using the system… it’s thrown up three hot favourites, two of which are in the same race! Surely this is madness?

4.00 – Towcester – Over The Creek (1.67)

4.40 – Wincanton – Sonevafushi (3.1) and Risk Accessor (5.1)

What’s going on? Over the Creek is a hot odds-on favourite and tipped to win by, well, almost everyone and as for the Wincanton race… the opinion seems to be that one or the other will take it, leaving us out of pocket either way. The only thing going for the 4.40 is that none of the horses have raced for a long time so it adds a greater element of chance… but we shall just have to see. I’ve still layed them but I can’t bring myself to watch it.

No bet today.

Right well that’s one month of testing and had I not implemented the revised selection procedure yesterday we would have made a profit of £50 from 16 bets starting with a £100 betting bank. Not bad.

It turns out that yesterday we had one non-runner, one winner giving us £12, but one losing bet costing £67. So that means a loss of £5 for the month. The problem here is that we don’t know the true figure had I been using the correct selection procedure from the beginning of the month as we may have had a lot more winning bets so I’ll carry on this test one more month.

I do quite like this system as it’s very quick to do in the morning but I’m still not keen on laying systems anyway simply because of what a few losing bets can do to your bank. We spent a month making £50 and lost the lot on one bet!

The Lay Whisperer

There has been an interesting development since yesterday as I have heard back from the system author about a certain ambiguity in one of the selection criteria. It transpires that I have been disqualifying some selections that would actually have qualified, which would explain the limited number of bets we have been getting.

So now that’s cleared up, today, instead of being another no bet day, actually has three! I’ll have to continue this test for another month now to see the difference it makes.

So on to today we have:

2.50 – Folkstone – Gustavo (6.6)

4.10 – Taunton – Bills Echo (4.1)

4.20 – Folkstone – Corrib Eclipse (5.2)

We are aiming for £12 on each now as well so I had to add a little to my betting bank to cover it. This is why I’ve never been too keen on laying… if these three win it’ll take out the whole betting bank! Hmmmm…..

Nothing today from The Lay Whisperer. There have been 16 bets so far this month but it has shown a 50% increase on the betting bank so that’s ok with me.

The Lay Whisperer

Quiet day again today with no bet from The Lay Whisperer. Definately appears to be a slow and steady system this one.

The Lay Whisperer

Another winning bet yesterday with Fountain Hill getting soundly beaten by Ursis, which was nice as I also had £100 on Ursis to win.

The betting bank now stands at £150 so it’s time to recalculate the 8% profit target and for the next bet we will be aiming to win £12. We recalculate every time the bank increases by £50.

A lot of racing today but no bet for The Lay Whisperer.

The Lay Whisperer

A winning bet yesterday with our nag beaten by Glasker Mill. He did look promising but just didn’t have the legs against a better opponent. Our horse in fact went off as favourite which is again an unusal selection for a laying system… but it’s a pleasant surprise.

So we add £8 to the betting bank which now stands at £142.

We have another bet today:

2.20 – Hereford – Fountain Hill (6.6)

This horse is a good jumper and has been tipped to win by both The Times and The Star. The trainer, Nicholls, overshadows the rest and with a couple of recent successes for the jockey this seems to be another gamble. Lets see how it fairs.

The Lay Whisperer

We have a bet today!

1.50 – Fontwell – Dancing Bay (3.3)

These are great odds for a lay bet but of course it still has to lose to be profitable! This race is a mixed bag but Dancing Bay is fancied to take it by Spotlight, The Guardian and The Independant no doubt because it’s jockey (Fitzgerald) has won four out of his last five races and it should be fresh after it’s rest.

Still, The Lay Whisperer has identified it as a lay selection so lets see how it gets on. I think I’ll watch this one.
