Struck Gold

This is a one off review of the Struck Gold horse racing service.

I have been monitoring this service since it’s inception on 23rd May this year and I have to say I’m impressed.

It’s a straightforward backing service and you simply back the horse to level stakes.

You have to place your bet as close to the off as possible as long as the selection is the favourite in the Live Show. Don’t panic though, you don’t have to do this yourself as the service comes with a bot that places the bet for you.

It checks the Live Shows, it checks the odds, and if everything is fine it places the bet for you.

You don’t have to use the bot though. The selections are e-mailed to you every day and if you prefer you can bet on them manually. The bot doesn’t require any extra subscription though and it can be left on 24/7 on a virtual server if you like, so this really is a service that you can just turn on and leave it to make money for you.

From 23rd May to 5th September, it produced a profit of £448 with just £10 stakes which is very respectable in just over three months. That would be £1,120 with £25 stakes.

On 6th September I decided to bet with real money using the bot with £10 stakes using a £500 betting bank. They actually recommend a 100 point betting bank but having analysed the bets over the last four months I was happy with 50 points. In just sixteen days of live betting it’s made a net profit of £221.17 after Betfair commission.

So in four months it’s made a profit of £669 to £10 stakes, £1,672 to £25 stakes, or £3345 for those that bet £50 stakes.

There are never any liquidity problems on Betfair as these are favourites, and of course bets can be placed manually at bookies if you prefer, using Best Odds Guaranteed if you wish.

So with four months of data, plus a few weeks of live betting to test the bot, I am more than happy to give this an Approved rating. I will continue to use the bot myself on my virtual server and will do periodic updates to let you know how it’s getting on.

Oh yes and there’s one more thing that makes this a very attractive addition to your betting portfolio… the price.

Less than two hundred quid for the whole year, with the bot thrown in for free. I’ve made that back in two weeks with just £10 stakes!

Highly recommended.

You mention Struck Gold being less than £200 for the year but it appears to be £37 per month – which is correct please?

Graham November 17, 2011 at 11:20 am

It was £197 for the year when it launched but is now £37 per month.

They still offer the annual option though!

i tested this method live over 2 months nov-dec 2011 and the results posted are not the same as i received ie (winners on his list but none in my betfair account ?)…either the results have been falsified or the software is faulty.

Hi Chris,

I run this myself and the results are accurate. You should contact Matt directly as you should be getting the same results.

I had the same experience as Chris, the results recorded by my bot not always agreeing with those (belatedly) listed on the past results section of the daily messages. A query on this remained unanswered, as had another point raised several times. My £500 bank at one time rose almost to £700 but steadily sank to below £460 after Christmas so. although over half of my fourth £37 payment remained, I uninstalled the bot before any more of my pension went down the drain.
I enjoyed the fact that I had only to switch on the bot every morning and then check in the evening to see the results, but the basic objective was to make a few quid whilst otherwise engaged, not lose because of a poor strike rate, made worse by the lack of explanation. NOT recommended.

Hi Alan,

I started with a £500 bank and it now stands at £1036.36 which is over 100% return since May 23rd. Considering there is no input required at all that’s a good return however, most of that was made in the first four months. The last four months the bank has more or less trodden water so if you’re paying on the monthly option then I can see how that would be frustrating. Matt originally only sold this as an annual subscription because you have to run it for a full year to see the benefit but he agreed to a monthly sub because of pressure from readers. I think just having the annual option would have been better as then subscribers would stick with it for the year and benefit rather than throwing in the towel.

A mate of mine uses this; he showed me his resuls, they do not coincide with official results and his results have fewer winner. Surprising how a bot seems to show the winners on the official site but doesn’t back them!

Graham February 27, 2012 at 12:00 pm

Hi Anna,

It could be something to do with getting matched at the right price if it’s close to the cut off. Contact Matt and ask. My results pretty much concur with the official results.

Hope this helps
