That above headline seems harsh, and indeed it is, but if you take the advised stakes of 3 or 6 points per bet, and ÂŁ100 per point, that is what you would have ended up with from the past 3 months!
In fact, with more realistic staking, it hasn’t been as bad as that, and truth is I started testing it at a really bad run for the service.
What I DON’T like about the service is the fact that results are posted to either 3 or 6 points. There’s no reason to do that other than to bolster the results when things are going well. When they AREN’T going well, this goes against you, and so it proved.
What I DO like about the service is its transparency and the fact that they report the results to Betfair SP. That of course means that if the service IS profitable, everybody can get the prices reported.
I actually ran the test to one point or two point stakes, which gives us a realistic outcome. And I am certainly happy that most of those would be the one point stake and only a 2 point stake where confidence was paramount.
Unfortunately the service never got into plus territory during the test, and so must end in a FAILED category. However, there are aspects of the service to mention.
Most of the selections are shorties – favourites at a short price. They have a cut-off price at evens, so below that no bet. As results are reported to Betfair SP, this is easy enough to do.
Bets are given at 1pm at the latest, sometimes much earlier. There are one or two bets a day, sometimes a few more, sometimes none.
For the three months of the trial, I have recorded a final tally of -32.41 points. That is an ROI of -5.64%. The strike rate is 48.6%.
I also recorded other results to see how they pan out. Without the price cut off of 2.0, the service would actually have been slightly better off, with +2.6 points. I also recorded early prices with bookies, and this would have added +14.89 points, thus halving the losses during the test period.
The results prior to our testing period are much more promising at +51 points from 3rd October 2014 to 31st May 2015.
For myself, I didn’t back the selections other the one day when they had an unusually large number of bets (5) and I decided to have a tenner on the acca, which was a happy choice.
Unfortunately for the purposes of our test, this must go into the FAILED category.
