1st October 2013 – Day 35

Firstly, today’s nocturnal trades

Carlos Berlocq vs Pablo Cuevas
Advice – Lay Berlocq
Berlocq won a very close first set on a tie-break. Looking through the details of the set, his serve was never troubled, unlike his opponent, where there were several games with break points. Cannot see anything but a losing trade here.

Ryan Harrison vs Horacio Zeballos
Advice – Back Harrison
Harrison was in front in the match just once in the first set, after one game. He lost the set 1:6, losing his serve three times in the process. He also lost his first service game in the second set, and at one point was 0:3 down in the second. Again, a losing trade the outcome.

Kevin Anderson vs Lukas Lacko
Advice – Back Anderson
Harrison was a short priced favourite here, and broke Lacko in the opening game, and the trade was looking at halve. If the target was not matched with the break, then I would believe the trade would have lost, as Lacko broke Anderson twice to win the first set 4:6, and was never behind after that.

Ivan Dodig vs Yuichi Sugita
Advice – Back Dodig
A much easier to read this match. Dodi broke Sugita in the fourth game, and was never behind. A winning trade here.

Kei Nishikori vs Jurgen Melzer
Advice – Back Nishikori
Nishikori lost his serve in the seventh game, and lost the set eventually on a tiebreak. He lost his serve in the second game of the second set. If the stop loss was not met on the loss of the first set, I am sure that the break in the second would have seen it deployed.

Gilles Simon vs Marcel Granollers-Pujol
Advice – Back Simon
Match cancelled, Simon withdrew.

Mikhail Youzhny vs Sam Querrey
Advice – Back Youzhny
Two consecutive breaks of serve, first by Youzhny, who then lost the first set on a tie break. He then went onto lose his service game in the second game of the second set, so if the stop loss had not already been deployed, then it would have been done here for another loss on the day.

Stanislas Wawrinka vs Andreas Seppi
Advice – Lay Wawrinka
Wawrinka lost the seventh game of the first set, and eventually the first set 4:6. A winning trade to be found here.

Fernando Verdasco vs Somdev Devvarman
Advice – Back Verdasco
Verdasco broke the Devvarman serve in the opening game, and although dropping his serve to go 5:5, went onto win the set in a tiebreak. So, if the early break didn’t produce a win, then at would surely have happened with the set going his way.

Carla Suarez-Navarro vs Davis
Advice – Back Suarez-Navarro
Suarez-Navarro was a heavy favourite here, the first set seeing no less than five service breaks, three for Davis. As Suarez-Navarro was not behind, the trade would surely have won during the set, if not when the set was won.
