20th October 2013 – Day 54
My thoughts on how I see today’s matches having gone….
Richard Gasquet vs Mikhail Kukushkin
Advice – Lay Gasquet
Gasquet lost his serve in game seven in the first set. That should have been enough to close the trade, and Kukushkin went onto win the set.
Tommy Haas vs Robin Haase
Advice – Lay Tommy Haas
Tommy Haas lost his serve in the third game of the match, and although he broke back in the following game, I expect that would have been enough again to close the trade.
David Ferrer vs Grigor Dimitrov
Advice – Back Ferrer
Dimitrov lost his serve on three occasions in the first set, to Ferrer’s one. Nothing to think that a straightforward winning trade here.
Simone Halep vs Samantha Stosur
Advice – Back Halep
One break of serve each in the first set, the first by Stosur. If that was not quite enough to close the trade, then the set went to a tie break, which Halep won.
Caroline Wozniacki vs Annika Beck
Advice – Back Wozniacki
The first set was riddled with breaks of serve, six in all, and not one hold in the first four games. As Wozniacki won the first set, and the pattern of those breaks, I believe that the trade would have been won.
Back to normal with tomorrow’s review of the selections advised.
