Yesterday the trial got off to a very frustrating start and resulted in a small loss. There were plenty of selections, but most of these fell foul of the system’s rules on the number of non-runners in a given race. Of the rest one was a non-runner and all but three were at odds of over 4.00 and so failed to qualify on price.
The first selection managed to struggle home in fourth place, but unfortunately it placed and was a losing lay. Fortunately, the next two selections both failed to place. But just to add to the frustration one of those that failed to qualify on price was out of range literally by only one or two ticks and again failed to place. However, there is a reason for a cap on the odds and bending the rules because something is close to being a selection will eventually end in tears.
